You are not choosing paint, you are specifying a factory finish that will still be there in twenty years. That makes it worth twenty minutes rather than five. This guide shows every colour we fit against real wall types, so you can see what suits your house before you commit.
Your walls are the biggest colour in the picture and you are not changing them. Warm red brick fights bright reds and pale blues; cool grey render kills soft greys. Work out what your wall is doing first, then choose a door that answers it.
Both work, drifting between them does not. Matching door and window colour gives a calm, deliberate elevation. A deliberate contrast, such as a dark door against white frames, gives the entrance focus. A door one shade off your frames just looks like a mistake.
Victorian and Edwardian houses were built with dark doors, black, deep green, burgundy. Post-war and 1960s housing carries brighter colour comfortably. New builds suit greys and near-blacks. Fighting the period is the most common expensive mistake.

Screens shift colour. These swatches are photographed from the real foils, but a physical sample in daylight is still the only way to be certain — and we keep the full set in both showrooms.
White render, white frames and a near-white boarded door — the whole elevation held to a single tone, with the brick plinth doing the work that colour usually does. It is the safest thing you can do with a blank canvas. Anything darker here becomes the only thing you see.

Not in the way you would repaint timber. The colour is a factory-applied foil or spray finish bonded to the slab, which is exactly why it lasts. Specialist respraying exists but it is a compromise — treat the colour you order as the colour you keep, and choose accordingly.
Modern foils are far more stable than the ones fitted twenty years ago, and our doors carry a 20 year guarantee. Very dark colours on a full south-facing elevation do run warmer, which is why quality manufacturers use heat-reflective foils on darks. Ask which foil range a quote is based on.
The windows matter most — they surround the door and are seen together. A garage door on the same elevation should either match the front door or sit quietly in the frame colour. Three different colours on one frontage is where most kerb appeal is lost.
Black, anthracite and navy are the safest — broadly liked and unlikely to date within a normal ownership period. Strong colours such as ochre or post box red are more personal; lovely if they suit the house, but worth thinking about if you expect to move within a few years.
